This one is for the kids in all of us. A very easy fun time at the "duck pond". There are 2 boxes at this time, with very small log books.

Last checked: July 5, 2004

We parked at the Butner Road entrance near SW 126th. Tara, our wonderdog, was with us. But boy did we make a mistake, even knowing how crazy she gets with kids, critters, and flying objects, we forgot to bring her gentle leader collar (control without strangulation).

We had the retractable leash with us and were ready to take a nice stroll around the lake. We went to the left on the path and noticed the playground on the other side of the street. Tara saw the kids and took off, I managed to stop the momentum just enough to head her away from the street. Then, schwap! The snap on the leash broke and flew off. I think it went into the brush, maybe even landed in that stump there. Ouch! The leaves are prickly in there, man oh man that hurt. Too bad, we gotta go after the dog! If you happen to find the broken snap, please log in and let us know.

Anyway, we followed her escape Southwest toward the lake. Oh! NOooooo! We watched as a goose rose up from the boardwalk and took flight! Find the evidence at the faw corna undow a wock, but be vaowy keofow, the awea is highwe visibow but I know you can be vaowy sneaky.

So once again, Tara dashed off, after the goose! We chased her all the way around the lake past the soccer fields and around the other side. Aw, geez! Those kids are playing frisbee! TAAARAA! NOooo! Drop it! That's not your frisbee! Look! There she goes, into that little wooded area on the lakeside. There, by that beautiful, picture perfect tree. There are 2 other trees each with either a picnic table or trash can. She went down that path toward the lake! Help us find her and the frisbee, please! Oh, there she is, lying in the shade. Huh?, a pile of rocks? Nope not there. We headed back out to the trail and looked all around. Nope not there either. This one keeps getting destroyed so it is gone.

We managed to wrestle the frisbee from her and back to the kids. When we turned around, Tara was gone. Great. So, off we went. We headed back toward the car, and what did we see? There she was, directly behind the light post. Look down into the wall of trees behind a chunk of asphault.
Now there's a happy dog! We got her back into the car and headed home. What a day. So much for a casual stroll in the park. This one is gone too.

Have fun and do be discreet, this is a very busy park.
