DIRECTIONS:

It will probably be more of a challenge to find the trailhead, than it will be finding the letterbox! Waterfalls twenty-nine is located in the Shelton portion of Webb Mt. Park. Begin at the intersection of RT 110 (Leavenworth Rd.)and East Village Rd., in the vicinity of the White Hills Shopping Plaza. Travelling on East Village for almost exactly 2 miles, you will come to Longfellow Road on your right. Take a right onto Longfellow, and follow it through a neighborhood dedicated to other famous American authors. Also take a piece of local neighborly advice and "Please, drive as if your children live here."
You will pass Whittier on your left; the next left will be Bryant Lane. Take a left on to Bryant. At the end, take a right onto Thoreau. As you descend, note the blue blazes on the telephone poles on your left. You are actually driving on the blue dot Paugussett Trail! Just before the metal railings appear, you will see a pole that has a "double stroke/ turn of trail" blaze. Park as close to this pole as you can. But do not block the mailbox for #178. Here is your trailhead.

CLUES:

Descend the wooden and stone steps provided as an easement between the houses until you come to Round Hill Brook and the bottom of the glade. Enjoy the series of cascades that make up both converging streams. Cross over the brook and turn left up the blue-blazed trail. You will come to a larger fall which has a fallen tree leaning over it. Stop here, and look up the hill all the way to your right. At the top of the hill, on the horizon, is a solitary round boulder. Climb up to the boulder, and find the Waterfalls twenty-nine Letterbox hidden behind it under a pile of flat stones. Logbook and ink pad provided. Hide it thoroughly, after you have stamped in. Continuing on the trail for two miles will bring you to the entrance road to Webb Mt. Park in Monroe. Enjoy an athletic hike, or return to your vehicle following back down the brook.
