Van Wickle House letterbox

Background:

The Van Wickle house was built in the mid 1700s, as a wedding gift for Evert and Cornelia Van Wickle, from his father. The young couple was wed and died the same day, March 3, 1757. When the bodies were later exhumed, all that was left was ash, so it is presumed they died in a fire (cremation was not permitted then). They were both buried on a hill, on the property, overlooking their home. Yet, some say they still look after their home till this day. When the house was still a private residence (it was happily sold to Franklin Township in 1976), the ghosts were known to turn on radios, slam doors, move objects within the house, and turn lights on and off, amongst many other things. There are three other souls which haunt this house as well, all believed to be buried in the small cemetery at the front of the property. Don't worry though, they've never caused any harm, yet. They yell and bang pots and pans, but are perceived to be genuinely protective of the living.

Directions:
The Van Wickle House is located in Franklin Township. For directions, go here:

Directions
There is a small cemetery as soon as you turn onto the driveway, on your right hand side. Make a note to walk up here and visit. Also, pets are welcome (and are known to see things that we cannot).

Clue:
This box is essentially a drive-by, so you'll have plenty of time to search out spirits!
Pull down the main drive, and park in the lot past the Green Acres sign.

Updated Clue 10/10/2018
From the well, find the wooden walkway, due south. Follow this over the swamp to the end. Follow the path to the right along the canal, past the turtle, until it ends at a pair of trees on the left, which are embraced by thick hairy vines. The box is resting between them under branches and forest debris

• No ink included; bring your own. Black is suggested.
• Please rehide well, making sure the box is not visible.

Original Clue 10/10/2003
Start by heading off across the canal. Stop at the brown pole on the pathway. Go 151 paces southeast and stop. You will see a gate off to the southwest. Proceed to that gate.
From the gate, take a look at 250 degrees, and notice a house (not the house). Walk the woodchip path nearest there, but there's no need to wander off the path. There is a two foot high wooden pole, 236 degrees from your last mark. Head off the woodchips here, and over a five plank wooden bridge.
At your first intersection, head left. At the next, head to the three trunked tree at 118 degrees. From that tree, go to another three trunked tree at 172 degrees. At 200 degrees, you'll notice a very large tree that you'd probably like to see close up. From that point, you'll want to head 27 paces toward a five foot high stump you see at 304 degrees. You won't make it there, the box is hidden under the downed part of that tree along the way, where the two trunks meet.
