The ASEANA Foundation started in 2006 with a group of Shreveport residents who dreamed of having an Asian Gardens for the people of Shreveport to come and appreciate the serenity of an asian inspired oasis in the middle of Downtown Shreveport. Lumen Tindell together with Yoshi Odaka, Gloria Hall, Shobha Reddy and Mary Grace De Joya-Vea, the original board members, together planned and worked hard in the neglected park to create the gardens that will represent the different Asian countries. Shreveport Public Assembly and Parks (SPAR) and Downtown Development Authority (DDA) joined us in clearing the overgrown and uncared garden then known as Municipal Plaza Park in Downtown Shreveport.
