A common local tree yielding edible nuts which were a staple of native americans. A pinon fire has a distinctive fragrance.

From Main st, find Butler ave.(abt 600E) and turn south. As you cross Broadway the street becomes Pinon st. Continue past the hospital until you're about 100 yards from the stoplight at Murray(US 64). There is a road to the left (directly opposite the building sign "Four Corners Gastroenterology Consultants") going cross a fence to an open area, To the left (east) as you cross the fenceline is a large cottonwood. Next to the cottonwood is a dual trunk tree. The letterbox is low between the trunks.
