These stamps were carved by Butterfly Suzy for the Cedar Hill Cemetery scavenger hunt a few years ago. They are lovely images of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. I came across the stamps the other day and realized how great they are, so I had to put them out to share with everyone else (with Suzy's permission!)

Locate this preserve. :) [photo hosted on AQ... click the link above] It's not very large but the scenery is lovely.

Follow the orange blazes the entire time. They seem recently painted and very easy to follow. Just as you are taking your first hairpin turn to the left, look to the right and see a ledge. Reach behind the slanted rock (not the pale triangular one, but the one next to it) for box #1.

Continue to follow the orange blazes up! It will level off at a spot where you're standing between two log cabin homes. Take a few steps more and there will be a large boulder on your right. On the far side of the boulder is box #2.

Keep walking for many minutes, winding up and down and around. You'll start to loop back toward the entrance and pass a log lean-to. Follow the trail next to the lean-to and then around in front of it. As you continue, keep your eyes open to your right for a stone wall. Find the tree that has yellow markings and silver discs letting you know that it's the boundary between the preserve and CT state land. At this tree, hop over the wall and locate the box by removing only one trap door. There is box #3, which also contains the logbook.

To get back to your car, just keep following the orange blazes. Isn't this a fantastic preserve? Thanks to the Middlesex Land Trust for putting in this trail. :)
