On: 5/18/2012

Location:
Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary

Directions:
Take Rt. 2 to exit 28 (Rt. 31 north). Follow Rt. 31 north to the stop sign (intersection of Rt. 31 and Rt. 2A). Follow Rt. 31 north/Rt. 2A east 1.1 miles to another stop sign. Bear right onto Rt. 31 north/Rt. 2A east/Rt. 12 north towards Fitchburg Center. Follow that .4 miles and bear left up the hill (this is Wallace Rd.) Follow Wallace Road for .4 miles take a left onto West Street. Take the third left onto Ashburnham Hill Road. The sanctuary is 1 mile ahead on the right hand side at the Mass Audubon sign.

Clues:
Start on the Link Path by crossing the stream. Follow the path (stay to the left at the fork) and eventually cross the stream again. Continue the trail until you reach the tree that arches over the trail. Look for the yellow blaze and to the right of that will be a three trunked Oak tree with a rotted tree which fell in the center. You will find the box in the center of these trees. If you start heading downhill you have gone too far. Continue the way you were going on the trail back to your car.

If you’re from New England, this box is sure to “Knock Your Sox Off”.
