Timberwood Trail
Turn onto Timberwood from Sherpard Ave, watch closely on the right for the trailhead, just before house #15.
Walk down the trail toward the waterfall, not even 2/10 of a mile. At the large rock/small boulder is the turn for the falls, turn right and stop. Look right to a medium size birch about 20 steps from the large rock/small boulder. Just next to the birch is foot long rock with a small overhang. Look below.
Busy Bee hopes everyone plants flowers naturally to increase the bee population.
About this Hamden Land Conservation Trust property: "Timberwood Trail - a 0.19 acre trail corridor, about 20’ wide x 440’ long, leading to a view of Wolcott Falls. Acquired in 1988. A leisurely stroll down a cleared path to a lovely small waterfall, this would make a nice outing on a warm summer day. This hidden patch of woodland is situated just off Shepard Ave. The waterfall is created by an outcropping of balsalt that hasn't been worn away over time. The softer New Haven Arkose, a sandstone and feldspar mixture, has been worn down by the creek. Woolcott Falls is owned by the Town of Hamden, and the Hamden Land Conservation Trust has jurisdiction of the trail leading to the falls."
