This box has a very interesting story behind it.
It's the ugliest box/stamp you will ever find.
That's it.
What, you mean it's not interesting?
Seriously, this box is so ugly because we decided to go letterboxing on an impulse, to celebrate our anniversary. To honor the special date we wanted to plant a box but had little time...hence
THE UGLY BOX
DIRECTIONS: From Sisters, take highway 20 west, turn north at the road for Jack Creek, just east of Suttle Lake. There is a sign on the highway.
Follow the signs for Jack Creek headwaters/campground. When you leave the paved road, turning left where the sign points you to Jack Creek Campground, you will pass over a bridge (over Jack Creek).
This is where you start. You will know you have the right spot if you find an interpretive nature sign on the downstream side of the bridge.
Right next to the dirt road with signage telling you to turn left to Jack Creek Campground, there is a trail going upstream.
That's your path.
Clue:
Follow the trail until it veers left and crossed a dry creek bed (most of the year). If you come to a very tall tree laying across the creekbed, you've gone to far.
After you cross the creek bed walk 15 paces and turn to face the way you came. Look 30 degrees and look for a large gray hollow snag, only about 20 feet high, shaped like a throne.
From the snag, look 103 degree and see a tall downed tree laying in a northeasternly line. On the end facing you there is a large hollowed cavity. Walk 25 paces to it.
the box is inside, covered by bark and rotting wood pieces.
