Planted for PAL day 2012.
Retired as of 4/23/13, the victim of massive shrubbery trimming.
Other letterboxes have pointed you towards great beef dip and pastrami sandwiches around Los Angeles. But The Jolly Jug gets my vote (not to mention the LA Weekly, among others). Opened by a Jewish woman from New York in 1948, she retired in the 80s and sold it to a Chinese couple, who have changed none of the recipes and carry on a local legend with some really friendly service.
