“Mudpuppy” (Necturus Proteidae)

This is my new altar-ego. (There is an intended pun, here, for those who know me.) The mudpuppy is an aquatic salamander that always manages to find the wettest, muddiest places to hide.
Mudpuppy stamps will always be located near to the wettest, muddiest trails that I know. Even during the hottest, driest summers, these trails are WET! And after I have hiked through these trails, “Mudpuppy” Me always appears.

DIRECTIONS

This letterbox is located at the Webb Mt. Discovery Zone, off of East Village Road in Monroe, CT. Some of my favorite and admired letterboxers: Trailhead Tessie, Dino Don, Grade “A” Penguins and Faerie Princess all have boxes hidden in the Zone. I had to plant one in their company. (Besides, there is one of the best muddy wallows of all times here!)

CLUES

Get a trail map from the box, or download from the website:

Froggy Freeway will take you to Pond Parkway. Stop at the Mountain Laurel Info Board. Now walk back the way that you came, 22 steps. STOP before the trail turns to the right and descends. Look straight ahead into the woods. NOT INTO THE SWAMP!. You will see a two-sister tree with one hollowed out and gone. At the base of the tree, to the left and under rocks you will find THE MUDPUPPY THREE LETTERBOX.
