The Culper Spy Ring began after Nathan Hale was caught and hanged by the British because he was caught carrying secret information hidden in his shoe. Find his family’s farm, and park in the lot near the house. Follow the road into the woods, past the field on the left where the Farmers’ Market is held each Sunday from June – October, past the barn won by the Farmers’ Market in 2011. Continue on the road until you come to the first driveway on the right which leads into the corn maze held here in the fall. Stop at this driveway and turn left. Walk into the woods, straight back until you see, slightly to your left, an oak tree and a yellow birch tree growing together in front of a large boulder. Between these trees you will find: A Ring of Spies. Please rehide carefully.

Bring the clues to The Culper Ring with you, return to the path, turn left, and follow the stone wall on your right, marked by a tree with yellow rings. Turn right and take an immediate left on a much smaller path that parallels a stone wall. Keeping the wall on your left, look for a large oak tree with many boulders around it on your left. Stop on the path next to the tree. At 80 degrees you will see an old stump with a boulder in front of it. Between the boulder and the stump you will find Nathan Hale, carved by Wolfy.
