“Mudpuppy” (Necturus Proteidae)

This is my new altar-ego. (There is an intended pun, here, for those who know me.) The mudpuppy is an aquatic salamander that always manages to find the wettest, muddiest places to hide.
Mudpuppy stamps will always be located near to the wettest, muddiest trails that I know. Even during the hottest, driest summers, these trails are WET! And after I have hiked through these trails, “Mudpuppy” Me always appears.

DIRECTIONS

Park in the Park & Ride Commuter Lot on Park St. off of Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull, within sight of the RT25 Connector. Exit the lot and take a left to the end where you will find the Pequonnock Trailhead.

CLUES

Fierce rain last night; drizzly morning; bright blue sky by noon. Perfect Mudpuppy weather!

Go left past the signboard. Stepping stones will get you across the stream. Follow the blue blazes, zigging and zagging until you come to the river. So many wet and soggy locations. Which to choose? Keep following the trail along the river until you pass a shaggy three-sister silver birch tree on your left. Looking ahead, you should see a large flat rock on the right about shoulder-height, sticking out into the trail. You will have to climb up and over that flat rock, all the way to the top of the hill. You should arrive at a large hemlock tree which has one branch on the right, broken and fallen. Standing in front of the hemlock, turn back to face the river. At your feet, you will see two large flat rocks (or two halves of the same stone). Under the point of the right stone, you will find the MUDPUPPY FOUR LETTERBOX.

Please conceal the box completely.
