Listen close, I have a story to tell
here, a billion years ago
Ice lay thick in Ledyard
embedded with snow
Glaciers picked up rocks
and then dropped them down
Creating a boulder monument
in this historic town
Then came man
who built the road
That leads you here now
for this riddle to uncode
Near where Whale’s head
and Tangled woods cross
There is a Glacial Park path
surrounded by moss
You’ll follow its turns
and keep a happy mood
As you walk along
this trail of blue
You’ll soon find yourself
in a valley so deep
Filled with rocks and great boulders
up the hillsides so steep
To your right climb the rocks
hopping along just for pleasure
It’s a game that’s more fun
than hunting for treasure
Cross the valley to the bench
without touching the ground
And sit for a spell
catch your breath, look around
After you breathe in
the magnificent view
Take the trail to the south
and start a quick-step anew
A stone wall you’ll find soon
with a right-sided pile
Now just look inside
and you’ll be sure to smile
