Taking Flight Letterbox

This letterbox has been planted in honor of a truly stellar teacher and colleague, who worked for years as busily as a beaver creating a snug, dry den to nurture learning and growth in her students. We will remember her as she takes flight to seek out new adventures.

To find the Taking Flight letterbox, you will need to visit a historic neighborhood of Dorchester known as Uphams Corner.
As you drive or walk south on Columbia Rd from where it intersects with Dudley St, notice the charmingly antiquated Strand Theatre on your left.
Keep going straight until you reach the intersection with Bird St on your right.
Enter the Bird Street Community Center on the corner of Bird St and Columbia. Go up the fine (if aging) marble stairs to the first floor and turn left.
Enter the Uphams Corner Branch of the Boston Public Library.
Ask the hardworking librarian at the circulation desk for the letterbox. Enjoy this cozy community branch of the Boston Public Library while you are there!
Note: This letterbox is accessible from Monday-Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 12-8, and Friday 9-5.
