Shawnee Cemetery is actually three cemeteries side by side. St. Joseph is the southernmost, Shawnee Cemetery is in the middle, while Pleasant View is the northernmost cemetery. Quivira Road actually was Cemetery Road until the formation of Lake Quivira in the late 1920's. Cemeteries were built as parks for the living to visit their departed loved ones. There are some beautiful monuments here to appreciate. Turn East on W. 61st Terrace and take your first left. You will come to a brick pillar marking "Pleasant View Cemetery". Go 16 paces (32 steps) to the east. You will find yourself near a fence. It's in a large tree near the fence.
