This is a walk along one of the many unmarked paths in life.

You will start on the marked Mattatuck trail where it crosses Webster Road in Litchfield, CT. Go north through the evergreens and enjoy the peacefulness. Take the second right onto the unmarked road/path. You have the right one if the blue trail bends left and there is a very tall snag marking the corner. Lots of chipmunks here.

Continue on until you see the trail ahead will turn left and you can see the woods open out into marshland. Before the turn watch for a four sister shag bark tree on your left. Walk left past the ladies to find some large logs resting on the ground. Find the two logs that are parallel to each other and to the path. Behind/under the first log, where it branches out you will find the box.

Return the way you came for a walk of just under one mile.

Explore a little if you want to walk farther. You can return to the path and continue on north for another eighth of a mile. The trail will become overrun with honeysuckle as you approach the bank of the Bantam River but you can get right down to the river and see the water lilies up close. You can also see the boardwalk to the North and you can walk up there if the conditions are right.

There is another nice little path for a slightly longer route back to your car. Returning along the blue trail take the path to the left. (This was the first right turn you passed walking in) This path curves back to the south and joins Webster Road where you turn right to go back to your car.

There are plenty of other paths if you have the time
