Jackson Moose LB
Wilson, WY
Old Teton Pass trail
5-10 min. walk, slightly uphill

The first moose we ever saw was in Jackson Hole, WY, between Wilson and Moose. We named her Barbie. On our most recent trip to Jackson Hole, we saw a cow moose and her calf cross the road in front of us near Signal Mountain. This letterbox honors the many moose that live in Jackson Hole. So, of course, I named him Jackson.

To find Jackson Moose:

Take Hwy 22 from Jackson to Wilson going toward the Teton Pass. Watch for Trail Creek Rd (Old Pass Rd) on the left shortly after you go through Wilson. Soon after turning onto this road, you will pass a cattle guard and then the road ends at the parking lot for the trailhead.

From the gate near the trailhead sign, look straight uphill along the trail to the point where the trail begins to curve (about a 5 min. walk, or at this altitude, more likely a 10 min. walk). Just before the trail curves, look to the left of the trail for a small sign: Crater Trail, and a small dirt trail. From this sign, look straight ahead several yards to a magnificent tall blue spruce tree. Jackson Moose is resting under this tree at the back under SPOR.

PLEASE RESEAL ALL BAGS AND THE CAMO POUCH COMPLETELY TO PROTECT THE LOG, AND REPLACE THE ROCKS TO PROTECT THE POUCH.
Please let me know the status of this box at Atlasquest or LBNA. Thanks, and enjoy the view! -- Viewfinder
