This one is a little far afield but we couldn't resist this terrific cemetery. Only problem was we didn't have near enough time to explore it as much as we would have liked. On our map this was called the Suourgata Cemetery. If you check this link, http://www.kirkjugardar.is/sida_en.php?id=3&PHPSESSID=74155e7e1b097d43f69483d472121e09 you will see that is called the Hˇlavallagarur Cemetery. It is near the University and the National Museum and not far from the City Center.
At the intersection of Suourgata and Hringbraut you will find the pictured statue. From here walk down Suourgata toward the City Center. Go past the small maintenance area and enter through the small gate right after it. You will see two maps. You want the one with the noteworthy people listed. (Note: this is a partial map and similar ones at other entrances have different names.) From here, find the grave of the State Librarian. When you do, then turn left, skirt Hjerhuila and turn right in front of the white grave. Go to the natural wood cross with the natural wood, new looking fence. Facing this you will also see white hands behind it. The post behind Johanna Jonsdottir has a stone at the base. Look under this for the micro box. Please make sure everything is sealed and covered when you are done. There is no ink.
