Follow directions for Balf Park but at the top of the hill take the left that you past by before. Just stay on this trail till you come to an absolutely awesome lookout. Stop and admire the view, then continue on down a small incline till you see two fallen trees to the left of the trail. The ladder is at the base of the foremost tree, not in the roots, but where the base would be if still standing. It's covered with four flat rocks, please be sure to recover it completely as there are signs of partying going on close by.
Just for fun, I also took the straight ahead trail at the top of the hill and it comes out in the backyard of the Ct. Humane Society at their pet cemetery. It's not far, give it a try.
