#3 -The Giraffes

To find the entrance to the zoo begin at the intersection of I-90 and Rte. 195 South, (Exit 279).
Follow Route 195,( South Inland Empire Hwy) for approximately 3.9 miles.
Turn right on South Meadow Lane Rd. Then immediately turn left to stay on S. Meadow Lane.
Then take 1st right on Eagle Ridge Blvd. Go up Eagle Ridge Blvd. for 1 mile.
Parkridge Blvd. will be on your right, but you turn left into a parking area. Your quest begins here.

First cross the street, (Eagle Ridge Blvd.) Start walking up Parkridge Blvd. and turn right onto the paved trail. After 3 or 4 minutes in the open, the path meanders through pine trees. Shortly you come to a bench followed by an informative sign about Balsam Root. Continue down, then up, around a bend, and down to a “No Motorized Vehicles” sign. Stop at the sign and turn to your left. Looking up the hill you will see three pine trees in almost a straight line. Behind the third and largest tree you will find the Giraffes. If you continue on the path you will soon come to another street and an attractive, but artificial waterfall. You retrace your steps to return to your car.

This walk is less than a mile and takes less than 30 minutes, not counting stamping.

(If you would prefer a much shorter and easier walk to the Giraffes, only drive up Eagle Ridge Blvd. until you come to the 1st road on the right, (Shelby Ridge Rd.) Follow the trail uphill until you come to the "No Motorized Vehicles" sign. Stop at the sign and turn to your right. Follow the directions above. However, there is no designated parking area at this spot.)
