Valentine Rauch was born 5-6-1838 in Bavaria, Germany and came to America in 1871. He settled in Buffalo,Iowa where the story begins.... soon after he met and married Anna Marie Reinhard who was born 6-18-1850 in Spirkelbach, Germany.
They had 10 children who all were schooled,raised and started their working careers,businesses and families in Buffalo,Iowa.
We are starting this journey where it ends...
Go to the spot where its named after the first name of flower and the last of some land ..... (HINT- Road rhymes with Lodge)
Do not enter in at the entrance instead proceed forward and stop at edge of property near corn field. Turn left. Park at the first old pine tree. Near the pine tree you will find Valentine Rauch and Anna Marie Rauch.Stop and enjoy the scenery. While facing the markers,head 45 paces to side road.
You will see the caretakers shed. Around the shed you will see a tree that has been heavily trimmed from the top. At the base of the tree you will see a hole that nature has done. There is a piece of drift wood behind the hole.
There you will find the start of the story of the Rauch's!
