Eagle Bluff sits atop the Cumberland Mountains above Jacksboro, Tennessee and also has the Cumberland Trail going across. History is that the Indians used this as their look off point into the valley below, and watch the Eagles soar, while hunting in the mountains. Prior to the advent of the white man, the area was used as a favorite camping ground and village by Indians. There was an abundance of wild game and the ground was fertile for growing corn and other vegetables. The Eagle Bluff, prominent for miles around, provided an easy landmark for those on long hunting trips to get their bearings. More recent times it had become the "gathering place" for the locals and a Launch pad for Hangliders (mostly my brothers!). Currently the property is privately owned by my brother and sister. They have built a home on the top, but still allow the public access to the look off point and my brothers to jump off :) . We even built a walk up trail for the public to use to get to the top to enjoy the incredible view. The walk up trail was built as a memorial to our parents who died together as a result of an auto accident, December 6, 2010.

^ CAUTION^ CAUTION^^^^^^^^^ THE ROADS TO THIS SITE ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CARS^^^^^^^^^^CAUTION^CAUTION^

>>>>>>THE ROADS ARE "ROUGH", MOSTLY GRAVEL AND DIRT. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE RECOMMENDED. FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES CAN MAKE IT ON THE BACK SIDE ROAD IF IT HAS NOT BEEN RAINING<<<<<<<<<<

Clue: Park in the parking area at the rock wall. Walk thru the Rock Arch Entrance and take the trail to the top. When you get to the END OF THE WALK UP TRAIL, look to your right, toward the red house. You will see a large tree with a little rock wall around it and 2 little pine trees. Go to the back of that rock wall and you will find THE EAGLE. Just lean out the large upright rock to get to box.

Directions to site (Easiest route) I-75 exit 141 Hunstville/Oneida. South bound-exit off and go left back under interstate, North bound-exit off and turn right. Turn RIGHT onto road in front of the Shell station and Mexican restaurant, IT IS A TOTAL OF 4 MILES TO EAGLE BLUFF FROM THIS POINT. . Stay on this road past the HUGE WHITE CROSS AND XXX BOOK STORE. Continuing on you will pass a road on the left "Flatwoods Road" DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD!!!! Going on and you will see Matix and Camel factories on your right. Stay to the left going beside the Camel Manufacturing. Then on out the road you will come to a gate. At this point you will stay to the left on the gravel road. It will seem like a loooooong way on this part, but you are almost there. Stay on this road to the parking area at the Rock wall.

You can get to the top from the Jacksboro side, but the road is very steep and loose gravel, which makes it difficult for 2 wheel drive vehicles, including trucks.

Directions from Jacksboro side. I-75 exit 134 Lafollette/Jacksboro/Caryville. Go toward Lafollette & Jacksboro on Hwy 63/25w. You will go about 3 miles to the 3 rd traffic light (counting the one at the exit) You will pass Cove Lake State Park and then Jacksboro Middle School along the way. The 3rd traffic light is just after the school. Turn left at light onto Eagle Bluff Road. This road will narrow, drive carefully. After you pass Lake Street on your right, you will see a block building on your right at a gravel road. This is Old Kentucky Road, but is not marked/no sign. Turn right onto the gravel road and stay on road all the way to the parking area on top at the rock wall.
