If you happen to be in the area of UWSP, stop on over to the Schmeeckle Reserve for an easy wilderness walk around Lake Joanis. If you feel like doing a little learning, drive up to the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitors Center, open 8:00-5:00 7 days a week. Our excursion starts in the parking lot of the Visitors Center. This will be an easy walk, and the box itself should not be difficult to find (unlike most Freshman at UWSP, who take most of the year to find a major).
From where you are parked, head towards the gazebo, and take the gravel path South.
At the fork, head West towards the Home Compost Gardens. (Looks like you get to learn something anyways!)
Pass behind the Visitors Center, and when able, take the boardwalk South/West.
At the fork and the split rail fence, head East following the Trail of Reflections.
Take a slight detour to the swing overlooking the Reflection Pond.
Once done having fun on the swing, continue South/East, passing over the small boardwalk, and on to the last boardwalk.
At the split rail fence, stop at the William Breyfogel quote, and face due East.
Look for the decent sized oak tree, and walk around to the back side. Your prize will be found on the East side inside of a little rock cave.
