You could say this one is a drive-by, but I made it a stroll because you have to walk up a rocky path.

Make your way to beautiful Ferne Clyffe SP off Illinois Hwy 37 close to Goreville, in southern Illinois. Follow the road past picnic areas, shelters and playground until you reach the Boat Rock Picnic Area at the end of the road with a circle turn around. Check out the massive rock, and the massive rocks behind it. I wonder how these massive rocks formed here. Park close to the 1st massive rock and walk up the path on the left side of the massive rock. Turn right directly behind the 1st massive rock and follow this trail. Turn right again at the next split in the trail still behind the 1st massive rock. Take about 50 steps then see 2 big trees with 1 thinner tree between them about 5 steps off the path on the left side of the trail. The box is inside the oval hole in the tree, covered by a rock.
