1) Begin your search at Forest Preserve/Fabyan West Japanese Garden Museum located 1 block North of Rt 31 and Fabyan.
2) Once you enter the Forest Preserve, follow the road North (left) until you see the Pavilion with the green roof on your right. park there. If you aren't close to the pavilion, you parked too soon!
3) Look for the Fabyan Villa Museum/Japanese Garden sign and the tan brick bathrooms. If you can spot those, you are in the right spot.
4) Follow the asphalt path North. Watch out for the squirrels climbing the oak trees!
5) When your arrive at the Bear Cage, have a seat at one of the picnic tables inside and take a break.
6) Once you are done resting in the Bear Cage, look for the really cool fire place made out of stone. Follow the gravel path east toward the river. Be sure to stop and take a look at the beautiful Gardens designed by a Japanese architect around 1914.
7) As you walk the gravel path toward the river, you will come to a Y in the road. You are getting really close to where you want to be.
8) Look for a brown building with the sign "Boathouse" on it. Locate the steps into the building.
Do you see any openings in the steps? Be sure to look in all the holes and you will find what you are looking for!
