This letterbox is hidden on BLM land adjacent to Odin Falls. This river is a favorite destination for fisherman of all descriptions. The trail is not long but there is a short rock scramble at one point, probably not suitable for small children. The entire quest should be possible in less than an hour.

To the trailhead: North of Redmond go west on Coyner Avenue. In a couple of miles, you will enter the Tetherow Crossing subdivision. Turn right on Odin Falls until it ends at 62nd. Turn right here. This road will eventually change its name to Homestead Lane and then turn to gravel. Pass between green posts, go to the turnaround at the end of the road and park your car. There is a large ranch gate here with extensive fencing. To the left of the fence is public land.

To the letterbox: Pass between barbs and branches, a current runs at your right. Go right at the first junction until you meet 6112 dancing on wood. Just beyond is the canyon rim. At the rim, walk downstream until you find the dancers’ sibling known as 7. From this point, a half dozen steps at 150 degrees magnetic will bring you to a rough trail over the rim, down to the Deschutes River. Unfortunately, walking 50 yards to the right along the river would give you a great view of the falls but this would be tresspassing!

Instead, head upstream on the fishermens’ trail to find the letterbox. Soon you will encounter two dearly departed brothers, old and gray. One reclines across your path; the other stands erect overseeing the letterbox from the side of the cliff. Nine steps from the feet of the fallen one toward the perch of the overseer will bring you to the Odin Falls Angler.
