This letterbox is placed near a surprising waterfall in the Owyhee desert, in Jump Creek Canyon, at the Jump Creek Recreation Site. It is a busy place in the summer and you will have to be discreet finding and replacing the letterbox! Your adventure starts by heading west out of Marsing on Hwy 55. Keep straight on Cemetery Road and turn left on Jump Creek Road. Follow signs to the Recreation Site. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you begin a descent into the canyon. Park in the lower parking lot (the one with the toilet).

Look for the stairs to begin a walk downstream (to your left). At the third place of fire, begin a count of 36 steps and look up to see the base of two large, flat boulders (slabs). You must find your way to the top of the two flat boulders and look within at the space where they meet.

Since you’ve come all this way, don’t miss seeing the falls also! Return to the parking lot to follow the trailhead about ¼ mile up the canyon; the trailhead is marked with an iron sign near the building.
