GS-2155

❗️ Note: box was removed soon after placement, but hunt is still fun! ❗️

YOU WILL NEED A COMPASS!

Hidden by “The Secret Sleuths” for the amazing 4th and 5th grade Girl Scouts in troop 2155

Start at the park where Vilas Ave. and Campbell St. intersect. Once there, stand on the highest grassy point of the mound.

Now, use your compass to walk 210° approximately 80 paces. From there, you should be able to walk directly south until you see a small path going through a wooded area. (Be carful crossing the street! The cars do not have a stop sign.)

Follow this path. Look for a fallen tree on your left that’s pointing toward a tree that splits into multiple trunks. How many trunks does it split into? REMEMBER THIS NUMBER! Write it down here; you will need it later. A.______

Now continue along the same path until you reach the clearing. From that spot, where the path meets the clearing, use your compass to walk 220° until you reach the home of the old woman with a lot of kids. (Again, watch out for cars!)

Count the number of swings in this area. Write down the number here. B._______

Now, walk over to the bench at the northwest end of the playground. Stand in front, facing the bench. Count the number of names on this memorial. Be careful; count twice! Write down the number here. C._______

Now walk in the direction you are facing, across the field (280°) until you run into the mouse’s treat. How many holes do you count in this “treat?” Record this number here. Remember, you will need these numbers later. D.________

You are finally done collecting numbers! Now, walk toward the zoo’s entrance. (From where you are, the entrance is at a heading of about 100° on your compass.) Continue to walk past the zoo entrance and up the drive. Once you reach the fire hydrant, head up the sidewalk.

At the top of the hill you will see a large hollow trunk from a fallen tree. Have a seat near the hollow trunk and plug the 4 numbers you have collected into this math problem. You will need the right answer for the next clue to work.
C + C – D – D – B + A = ?

From the hollow trunk, use your compass to walk approximately ? ° until you have reached a large rock.

From this rock, travel west until you reach a second large rock. When you reach the second rock, look to your right (north). You will notice two large, leaning trees about 20 paces away. At the base of these trees you will find your treasure in an old rotted stump!

REMEMBER TO BE DESCREET! PLEASE RE-HIDE AND COVER THE BOX WELL SO THAT IT CAN NOT BE SEEN.
