I recently discovered the reason San Bernardino uses an arrowhead for a logo: an old natural landmark on the side of a mountain that's the subject of various Native American legends.

Exit the 210 freeway at Waterman Ave and head north. Just past 40th St, take the first right and park on the left at the entrance to Doty Field. Here you'll find a marker telling you the history of The Arrowhead Landmark that you see before you.

Use the right plaque to decipher this clue. Each set of three numbers is for a line, a word and a letter:

5-3-3 5-3-2 5-6-2 5-6-6 // 7-6-2 7-7-4 7-6-1 7-3-2 7-3-4 //.

10-7-3 10-2-2 10-6-8 10-2-5 // 11-2-1 11-2-2 11-5-2 11-3-2 11-5-1 11-3-2 11-5-2 11-3-5 11-2-4 // 13-3-4 13-4-3 13-1-7 13-4-7 13-1-6 // 15-2-1 15-1-1 // 9-3-3 9-3-6 9-3-5 9-3-4 //.

6-2-5 6-2-6 6-5-2 6-5-1 6-3-9 6-3-7 // 4-1-5 4-6-4 4-6-8 4-1-4 4-1-1 4-6-7 // 11-4-4 11-2-2 11-3-2 11-6-3 11-7-3 // 2-5-2 2-5-5 2-4-1 2-4-2 2-7-9 2-7-7 // 3-6-3 3-2-4 3-3-3 3-6-9 //.

Watch for thorns overhead. When you finish, make sure the logbook is sealed in the bag and folded neatly so it fits. Tuck in the bottle far enough to be out of sight, but still within reach for the next finder.
