Rabbit:
It was turtle’s birthday so, rabbit, turtle, beaver, duck, and frog decided to go to Pandapas pond and have a picnic lunch. They all had a wonderful lunch of cucumber sandwiches with pickled flies on the side (frog only ate the flies), and Sarsaparilla tea. After lunch they all decided to go for a walk around Pandapas pond, and enjoy the beautiful day. As the five friends began their walk, a race ensued between them all. Rabbit and frog where the fastest of the five friends, quickly passing turtle, beaver, and duck. Duck flew ahead to catch up, but turtle and beaver decided to continue slowly, knowing they would eventually catch up to rabbit. Rabbit was so fast that he was tired out pretty quickly. As he passed the first bridge on the Pandapas pond loop trail, he noticed a post along the left-hand side of the trail along the edge of the pond. As he continued, he saw a tree of four on the right and down the steep embankment. Once the tree of four was directly to his right, he took 10 steps on the trail before going off of the trail and down the steep embankment on the right of the trail. The first cluster of two trees, which used to be a tree of three, is where rabbit settled down for a nap. Look under the SPOR behind the tree to find rabbit.

Duck:
Duck, who had flown ahead of turtle, crossed a second bridge before noticing his friend, raccoon’s, footprints. Duck was very excited, as raccoon was a good friend of his also. He hoped to find him and waddled further down the trail. All of a sudden, duck noticed a great place for raccoon to hide his treasures and wandered up the hill to the “L” shaped tree on the right-hand side of the trail to search for raccoon. After waiting for raccoon, duck decided that resting in the hollow of this tree would give him the perfect vantage point without missing his other friends if they passed by. So, duck also settled down and took a break. In the uppermost section of the hollow of this “L” shaped tree is where you will find duck.

Beaver:
Beaver was slowly waddling behind frog along the trail, but excited to still be ahead of turtle. Beaver was hungry and could not wait to munch on the trees in the pond up ahead for a snack, so he stopped at the picnic table along the Pandapas pond trail. Once beaver was at the picnic table, he noticed some yummy trees up the hill to the left behind the table. The best looking tree of two was 14 steps from the picnic table, with another tree of two directly behind it. This second tree further enticed beaver. Beaver slowly walked to the first tree of two, before noticing that the second tree of two, directly behind the first tree of two, was much bigger and seemed yummier. So, beaver snuggled in for a rest behind the second tree of two.

Frog:
Frog and turtle were still having a great race, and it was neck in neck. Frog hopped on, surprised that he was alone and in the lead. He was jubilant, as he had never won, so he hopped and hopped. All of a sudden, he saw a fly off to his right and could not pass up a tasty snack. Therefore, frog hopped up onto the bench with the tree of two directly behind it. Frog looked for the fly and saw it under a SPOR behind the tree of two and settled down for his snack.

Turtle:
Turtle was VERY happy, for it was his birthday and he was winning the race. Realizing that he was so far ahead, turtle took a moment to revel in the beauty and design of beaver’s house on the right of the trail on the curved bridge. After turtle ran across the curved bridge past beaver’s house he saw an interesting tree of three with a leaning limb up the steep hill on the right of the trail. Under the leaning limb, turtle decided to wait for his five friends and let them think they won the race. Look for turtle under the leaning limb, settled in the bed of leaves.
