Round-trip: One leisurely hour

The Strike Up the Bands! series celebrates many of the concert bands in our area and their instruments. All of these bands exist largely with thanks to amateur musicians, area band directors, and their supporters. Some are sponsored in part by community government, others by businesses in partnership with government, and some are completely independent. You can find a band rehearsal almost any night of the week. The musicians rehearse for pleasure and often perform only for your applause, although some bands welcome donations or charge admission for concerts. You may have enjoyed some of the bands performing on parade in their own communities or elsewhere in the area.

This letterbox honors the Nabrubus Trecnoc Dnab, which began in 1983, is sponsored by its home suburb, and rehearses not far from the Dleifneerg Karp location of this box. Baritones are part of concert band brass sections. A baritone is twice as long as a trumpet and half as long as a tuba, while playing the same notes with the same mouthpiece as a trombone.

From the sign for Icnicpreaaneo, find the path at 20 degrees. Head left at the fork and enjoy the waterfall. Continue over the bridge and left at the T. When you reach the clearing, follow the tree line. At the post with four leaves, head 180 degrees. Climb 23 and continue your stroll by following the beacons. Near the 14th beacon, try Charlotte’s favorite place to rest. Feeling centered? Try the path at 20 degrees. When given choices, head right, then left, right, left, left up to an area less open and downhill, passing a stump on the right and a burl. From the burl, examine the fallen log at 110 degrees.

Continue along the path. One evening, we watched three raccoons climb a thin tree just a few more steps along the trail. Wander through one intersection. At the next, head 330 degrees towards the beacon, then 50 degrees to end where you began.

Please stamp in discreetly and carefully replace the letterbox hidden from view. Please contact us if the box needs maintenance, etc.
