1. Read the disclaimer and liability waiver from the web site. This is always at your own risk.
2. A compass will be helpful, but is not required.
3. Go to the Birch Mountain Road parking lot for Case Mountain in Manchester, CT.
4. A trail map might be available at the “kiosk” (big board/sign).
5. Follow the trailhead from the kiosk to the first intersection (White trail).
6. Take a left and follow the White trail; you will pass a bench on your right and over some stream bed (typically dry).
7. Keep following the trail; you will come to an intersection with the “Blue” trail. There will be a bench on your left.
8. Stay on the White trail; you will pass over a stream with a flat rock on the right.
9. Continue on the White trail; going up an incline, there will be another bench on your right.
10. The White trail will pass by a “cave” (small shelter under a large rock) on your right.
11. Watch for the three sisters (trees) and shortly after “large” twin sisters on the left a little further up the trail.
12. Stop at the first single tree after the “twins” on the left.
13. Stand next to the singlet tree (uphill side); take a reading of 152 degrees on your compass or look into the woods for two mossy logs on the ground about 20 feet away.
14. Walk about 30 steps (every foot) away from the trail toward the mossy logs on the ground.
15. Look between the logs toward the East (left) end of the trees under the leaves for the “You Did It” letterbox!
16. Please repack and hide everything carefully and neatly. Enjoy the rest of the park *, or return the way you came. It is a great place with some lovely views, but be careful not to get too turned around, especially if you don’t have a map.
17. Use the web site to contact us if maintenance is needed, or if you enjoyed this letterbox.

* If you continue up the trail you will come to the intersection of the “Yellow” trail. This trail leads to the Summit of Case Mountain, where on a clear day you can get a nice view of Hartford and the surrounding area. You can return to the parking lot by following the Yellow trail to the Blue trail and then to the White or by following the Yellow trail back to the White trail and return the way you came.

Thanks and Enjoy!
