From the Chip Ross parking area take the right fork of the road at the gate to the north. Hike this road for approximatedly 0.50 miles to the fallen "Grandmother Oak" or 0.26 miles as the crow flies.
Once you reach the listed the fallen "Grandmother Oak" take 33 paces SE to find a memorial grove monument. From there go west 21 paces to a young giant redwood tree to locate the letterbox.

This letterbox hybrid has been placed in memory of my favorite old oak tree who has seen many seasons but finally took a tumble in high winds in the winter of 2012.

This is an awesome park but quite muddy in the winter months. Mud boots and a hiking stick are recommended. No poison oak at the cache or in the memorial grove but watch for poison oak off the path and surrounding Grandmother Oak.
