Hike Length: Less than 1 mile
Location: Tortolita Mountains, Marana, Arizona

Directions to Trailhead:
The Wild Burro trailhead is at 14810 North Secret Springs Drive, off Dove Mountain Road, accessed from Tangerine Road. To reach the trailhead drive up Dove Mountain Road until you reach a roundabout and make a right into the Ritz-Carlton resort. When you reach the gate pull into the guest lane and tell the gatekeeper you’ll be hiking. Access and parking to the trail is free of charge. The trailhead parking is located on the third right after you leave the gatehouse.

Hiking Instructions:
From the trailhead follow the trail for about 5 minutes until you reach the official Wild Burro Trail. You’ll know you’ve reached this point when there is a sign stating the Wild Burro Trail extends left and right. As would be expected, you can only go left or right at this point.

The Clue:
When you reach the Wild Burro Trail sign stand directly in front of it and look at 150° from magnetic north. There you will see a large boulder – this is your destination. To get there follow the wild burro trail right (southwest) towards the side of the boulder. You’ll soon come to a clearing with easy access to the base of the boulder. On its north side there’s a rock slab extending out and into the boulder. Check under the rocks tucked between the opening inside the slab and boulder.
