Chapel Brook Reservation
Time: Half Hour to 45 minutes
Difficulty: Steep in spots, some rocky terrain but fairly easy

IN MY HEART LETTER BOX:

Up Date: 06/21/08 I've adopted these boxes from Kitty Brat.

Clue: Take Route 9 West into Williamsburg. After entering the center, take a right just before the library. Go over the bridge and continue straight across through the intersection. You have now come onto North Street. Follow this up for about 15 minutes. It will change names often. At one point there will be a fork in the road but stay to the left on the main road. You will first go through Williamsburg, into Conway for a short time, and then into Ashfield. You will pass Ludwig road on your left and shortly past that on the left will be the parking area for Chapel Brook Reservation. There is a sign.

Begin up the trail to where you will see a kiosk. Follow trail up to the main face and pick up the summit trail from there. The trail markers are in gold paint and faded. Continue on the trail until it comes to a stonewall crossing the trail. After crossing the wall, take 5 steps and turn off the trail to the leftand walk to the rock wall. See the “Reservation Boundary” sign to the left on a tree. Look down at the stonewall and count three large boulders to the right. The fourth one will be quite mossy. Under this mossy rock is what you seek. The entrance is hidden by other stones. Please log in your find at Letterboxing.org and/or Atlas Quest.

Go back to the main trail and the summit is about 4 minutes away. You will have a great view of the area on top of Pony Mnt. You can head back the way you came unless the return trail is reopened. At the time of placement the trail was closed due to erosion.

Please note that in the fall, the trail is quite slippery due to the leaves so proceed with care and wear sturdy shoes.

GOOD LUCK LETTER BOX:
MISSING :(
After you return to the parking lot walk a little ways up the road to the right and across the way you will see another small parking area for Chapel Brook Falls. At the entrance sign that reads, "trail", take 28 paces (1 pace=2 steps) forward. To your left there is a fallen log with a small rock out crop under the log. The "Good Luck" box is under the rock outcrop. Enjoy the falls but be careful, as some spots can be icy!
