DIRECTIONS:

RT8 to Bridgeport Avenue (Exit 13, if you are coming from the North). Take a left, heading away from downtown Shelton. Travel about a mile until you come to Commerce Street. Take a right (heading uphill toward Trap Falls Reservoir). Curve right; curve left. Look on the right for the kiosk, and PULL OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE GRASS, and park.

After you have stamped in, you can continue up Commerce Street to Huntington Road. Take a right, and then your second right (which is Buddington Road). You are heading toward WATERFALLS THIRTY-THREE, but from the opposite direction.

CLUES:

There are no clearly-blazed trails here. But heading downhill, through the woods and to the left of the kiosk, you are certain to hear one of the four waterfalls that contribute to Far Mill River in this one location. Follow your ears. Enjoy the falls at the far left, and then walk downstream until you come to the next two falls which are at right angles to each other.

On your way to these falls, you passed a large uprooted tree. If you stand in the cavity left by the roots, with the roots at your back, and look in front of you, you will see a couple of angular moss-covered rocks. THE WATERFALLS THIRTY-TWO LETTERBOX is hidden under the larger of the rocks behind a few flat stones. PLEASE RE-HIDE CAREFULLY. Then walk a little farther downstream to enjoy the fourth fall, or climb back up the hill to discover a couple of sawn log benches just waiting for you.
