Trail difficulty: easy, a flat dirt trail
Walk distance: about 0.1 mile one way
Stamp hand-carved
Status: alive and well on July 9, 2016

From I-40 east of Flagstaff, take exit 204 and drive south on entrance road to Walnut Canyon N. M. At about 2.7 miles turn right at brown sign titled Arizona Trail Parking. Drive about 1.7 miles on this dirt road to the trailhead parking pullout on the left (south) side of the road.

From the trail information sign, walk south on the Arizona Trail for a moderately short distance. When you see rocks sticking up in the middle of the trail, stop. At this point the trail bends to the right and slightly uphill. From this point, walk at about 134 degrees (from mag. north) for about 15 steps to a small 1 1/2 feet high sawed-off stump. From that stump walk at about 188 degrees for about 49 steps to a large, 3 feet high sawed-off stump on the east side of and under the limbs of a live Juniper Tree. The letterbox is in a hole in the top center of the stump covered with chunks of wood and plant debris.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it inside the box. Please put the lid on tight. Please rehide the box well under the chunks of wood and covered with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Contact me if the box needs attention or is missing:
