THIS IS MY 1ST BOX PLANTED. HOPE YOU ENJOY.
Lots of awesome history. Box will be planted inside Cochran, Blair, & Potts Museum.
Cochran, Blair, & Potts Department Store in Belton Tx is an outstanding example of a family business that has thrived for more than 140 years.

Founded in 1869 by Colonel H.M. Cook, a Mississippi veteran of the civil War, the store was originally called Cook Mercantile Company. First located in Centerville Tx, the store moved to Buffalo Tx, to operate closer to the railroad. In 1884 it moved to its final location in Belton. As various sons and sons-in-laws joined and left the business over the years, the name changed five times from 1869 until 1917 when it became Cochran, Blair, & Potts Department Store. In 1970 Roy and Jean Potts purchased the entire ownership. Presently owned and operated by the sixth generation of the same family that founded it in 1869. It is now co-owned and managed by their son, Rob Roy Potts Sr.. Recently, Rob's son Robert Roy Potts Jr. has joined the team to become the seventh generation.

The continuing success of this institution is a tribute of seven generations of businessmen who have been successful because they used solid business practices, treated their customers well, sell nothing but quality merchandise, and acted for the benefit of the community, thus representing the best in the American retail tradition.

Cochran, Blair, & Potts Dept. Store is of enormous historical interest and value because it is the oldest department store in Texas. Furthermore it has been owned and operated by the same family for seven generations.
An historical marker flanks the east side of the building (side were the front entrance of store), giving credit to all whom have kept Cochran, Blair, & Potts Dept. Store thriving for so many years.

Please take a step back in time....visit the store and browse the museum.
