The Forest View Cemetery is located in the center of Winsted. Tucked up behind the playground and ball fields. This is where I go to visit my family and friends that are there. Every time I come here to water the flowers or clear the weeds, I always say, "Just stopped by to say "Hello".

Directions:
From Rte. 8 North, follow past Exit 46 to the end of the highway portion of Rte. 8. At the light take a right . Follow down thru the first light at CVS and turn left at the next light at Dairy Queen. this is Rowley Street. Drive down past the ball field and turn left into the entrance to the cemetery and playground.

From Rte. 8 South, drive to the light by the Green, where Rte. 44 will cross in front of you. Dairy Queen will be in front of you. Go straight across 44 past Dairy Queen onto Rowley Street.Go past the ball field on left and turn left into the entrance to the cemetery and playground.

From Rte. 44 in either direction, Turn at Dairy Queen onto Rowley Street and drive past ball field on left and turn left into the entrance of cemetery and playground.

When you turn into the cemetery, stay to the right. Drive up past the building and turn right. Then turn right toward section E (just past The Gift Of Susan M.B.Perry on your left) Drive down and park to the side of the road near the white Section A post.

Stand facing the Section A post. Head due West 270*
or if you don't have a compass you want to consider the Section A post as 12 0'clock and you want to look to 11 0'clock, to a large tree with MANY smaller trees growing around it. The box is behind this tree under bark and sticks. You have the right tree if SGT. Hiram C. Roberts
and his family are on a large pointed stone on the right of the tree.

Now that you have logged in and re-hid, all you have to do is follow the circle around and go back down past the building and out. If you are not from around here and you need, food, gas or what not I'll sum up the town real quick.

If you have kids, you have the playground and also R & B Sports World (batting cages-go carts- arcade games- mini golf)

From Dairy Queen
If you turn right,(Rte. 44 East) CVS, Gulf Gas, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, Sunoco gas, Stop and Shop with gas station, Rite Aide, WebsterBank, Td Bank, Peoples Bank, (in S&S), Tractor Supply, Subway, Radio shack, Family Dollar and Mallory Brook Cinemas.
If you turn left,(Rte. 44 West) Cumberland farms, Winsted Gas, many pizza and chinese restaurants,a coffee shop, Duck Pin bowling, Cackleberries and The Winsted Diner.(both are good home cooking)If you need auto parts then turn left at the light with the coffee shop. At the top across from the stop sign is Levine's Auto Parts.
I hope this info is helpful.
