To begin, find Marion Road off off of Humphrey Street in Marblehead. Take Marion Road to the end where you will see the sign for Ware Pond Conservation area.
Start by walking along the path just past the sign. You will come to a small pond area with an old bench. Have a seat and listen and watch all of the various birds.
Continue along the path. You will pass an area filled with lots of bamboo. Perhaps make a walking stick for yourself! You will also see another bench area to sit and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Follow the path to the street. Count the telephone poles and take a right at the second pole.
Continue on this small street to the forest. You will see another sign for Ware Pond Conservation Area. Go through the woods, veering slightly right, to the dock.
Walk the dock to the end. This is a great place to view Ware Pond. We have seen wood ducks, geese, turtles and even herons.
Once you have had a minute to appreciate the nature, hop off of the dock at the very end. The letterbox is hidden underneath the dock in the middle. It is a plastic box with a notebook. Please feel free to leave a stamp, name and the city from which you hail. Please return the letterbox to this location for others.
We hope you enjoyed your trip to Ware Pond.
