Difficulty: clues and trail easy
Walk distance: about 0.6 mile one way
Stamp hand-carved
Version 3.0: this is the third location for this box!
Status: alive and well on October 22, 2015

The box is in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (BLM) east of Sierra Vista. From I-10 take State Highway 90 south to Sierra Vista. At Fry Blvd. turn east and continue on Highway 90 to the entrance to San Pedro House (it is just before the bridge over the San Pedro River). Drive south on the dirt road a short distance to the parking lot.

Behind (south) the San Pedro House (visitor center) is a large picnic ramada. Just south of the ramada is a trail. Walk southeast on this trail through the large field. The eastern part of the field is studded with Yucca and small Mesquite Trees. This trail will end at another trail on the eastern side of the field that goes generally north-south. Turn right and walk south. In a little while you will arrive at a large bench on the left side of the trail under a large Mesquite Tree. Continue south on the trail. In a little while you will arrive at two large old square wood posts on the right side of the trail and that are next to each other. There is another large old post a few yards farther south on the right side of the trail. From that lone post, continue on the trail for about another 91 steps to two more posts on the right (the second one is about 8 steps beyond the first). From the first post, go at about 240 degrees (from mag. north) for about 64 steps to a large tall Mesquite Tree. The box is under the southwest side of this tree under a flat slab of concrete covered with some brush. Be very alert for snakes and scorpions.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the concrete slab and cover it with brush and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction. Please return to the trail using a different route to help prevent creating a permanent "wildcat/social" trail.

Enjoy the view of the pond – you may see a beaver or several different species of ducks and geese.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if it needs attention or is missing:
