Outdoor Oasis
John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center (across the street from Manchester Memorial Hospital)
100 Haynes Street
Manchester, CT
The name on the building says the John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center but this is no ordinary medical facility. With free valet parking, concierge-style service, a warm fireplace and indoor tranquility garden, comfortable lounge seating, delicious refreshments, and complimentary computer use, the cancer center’s lobby rivals that of a luxury hotel. Beyond the lobby there is some serious cancer can-kicking going on with state-of-the-art medical oncology and radiation treatment therapies as well as patient navigator services, support groups, and nutrition and integrative medicine programs.
At the back corner of the building, there is an outdoor garden, a popular oasis for patients, caregivers and employees. Enter the garden and sit upon one of the wooden benches and take in the peaceful sights and sounds that surround you.
As you exit the garden and cross back over the babbling brook, look to your left. Where the water meets the bridge you’ll see a whitish-colored rock. Underneath it you’ll find your prize. Be sure to rehide it well without being seen or disturbing the water feature.
Note: During working hours, the garden area can be quite busy, especially when the weather is nice. It’s best to search for this letterbox on weekends or evenings.
