By the end of the 1930s, it was apparent to the Walter Lantz Studio that they needed a new cartoon star. The donation of Su-Lin, a giant panda cub, to the Chicago Zoo in 1939 was the inspiration for Andy Panda. His film career ended in 1949 although he continued in comic books until the early 1990s.
From the intersection of Pinon Hills Blvd. and La Plata Hwy(s170), go west on Twin Peaks Blvd. for 2.5 miles until you see a sign for Safety City. Make a right, an immediate left onto a dirt road, and park. Just west of where you made the left turn, there is a yellow natural gas warning marker. Standing at the marker, the letterbox is on the west side of the tree at about 100' almost due north.
