Fire Lady Tribute Letterbox

DIRECTIONS:

Get yourself to Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, CT. Main gate and parking opposite Quinnipiac College. Head up the TOWER TRAIL, which is gravel but still an exhilarating walk.

CLUES:

All of the Tribute Letterboxes are larger than usual. This one is a doozey! PLEASE take extra care in re-hiding it after you have stamped in. Supervise the young letterboxers, and teach them good technique!

Follow the Tower Trail to the summit. You will want to climb the castle and explore the area. But to find the Fire Lady Tribute Letterbox, you have to stay on the trail as it curves around the tower and becomes the blue-blazed trail. Follow the blue blazes back into the woods. There is a double blaze immediately upon entering the woods. Continue until you come to the second double-blazed tree which indicates a turn to the right. STOP HERE AND MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE ELSE IS WATCHING YOU! Look into the woods on your right, and see a pronounced boulder, which really is the cap on top of several other boulders. If you follow the ridge of this stack of boulders, as it meets the ground, you will find a pile (SPOR) of smaller rocks, covering the Fire Lady (and D-Ant) Tribute Letterbox.
