The Oldest Rodeo Letterbox, placed July 4, 2013, is located on the
Rodeo Trail at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, Prescott, AZ.

The box is placed at the beginning of the 1/2 mile Rodeo Trail which
takes you along the CWA built trail, circa 1930’s.
Enjoy the short hike and the 360 degree view at the top.
Caution: there is a little careful climbing involved to find the Letterbox.

Begin at the Yavapai County Courthouse in downtown Prescott, AZ.
Proceed north one block to Willis, turn left. Cross over Granite Creek
and turn right at the T intersection with McCormick.
Go to the light at Grove and turn right. Proceed past 1 light. On your left will be
a CVS, then a restaurant. Right after the restaurant, turn left on Rodeo Drive.
Pass the arena on the right and go to the stone Freeman Building on the left.
Park in area to the left of the Freeman Bldg. and go to the back of the lot.

There is a kiosk with an interesting story about the 1930 CWA work.
You can also enjoy the rock art that was a fish pond.
At the fish pond, go to your left, up 5 stairs and 26 paces along a large
boulder on your right to a Ponderosa. Note the stone chalice that crowns the rock.

At the trail intersection, turn left. The trail starts to bend to the right. Proceed along the hill to a clearing with a giant's picnic table to your right. Cross the clearing to a row of 6 baby Ponderosas. Go between the last 2 left trees and proceed up the hill. At the trail intersection turn left, go 24 paces to a rock slab. Follow the white dots. At the trail intersection turn right and go 58 + - paces. At the fork take the right tail. Go 11 paces to a flat triangular rock on your right. Turn right, go over the rock and decomposing tree. From the tree go 10 paces to a flat rock. There is an escarpment on the right about 7 FT high with lots of left leaning fin shaped rocks. Step on the 1 Ft high squarish rock and look behind the large fin. The "Oldest Rodeo letterbox is under some rocks.
Please put the rocks back to hide the box. This is the second attempted box!
