Thanks for visiting Mr. Luthi!

Mr. Alfred W. Luthi was born July 30th, 1858, in Switzerland. He married his first wife, Anna, in 1883, and a son was soon born. Shortly afterwards, they immigrated to America and came to live in Essex County, New Jersey.
After the death of his first wife, he married Martha about 1893, and four more children were born. About 1919/20, the family moved to Coventry, Connecticut, renting a farm on South Street. Coventry must have appealed to the family, so they purchased a dairy farm on 599 Main St. in 1922.
Mr. Luthi and his family lived here, running the dairy business and raising his family. One very nice January day,in 1938, while waiting for Sunday dinner, Mr. Luthi told his family that he was going to go out and watch traffic while he waited. This stretch of Rt. 31 was, at the time, Rt. 6.
When dinner was ready, one of the grandchildren went out to tell grandpa, and Mr. Luthi had passed away while watching traffic. He was sitting on a big square stone near the mail box. When we get the mail, we always say “Hello” to Mr. Luthi.
This is an easy find. Be sure to be careful, because Main Street is busy here. Find the mailbox at 599 Main St., Coventry. To the right of the mailbox, you will see a big square rock with the remnants of metal poles in it, and a smaller round rock on top. Look under the shrubs directly behind this rock and you will find what you seek. 
Thanks for visiting Mr. Luthi! P.S. This is my house, so don't be shy about rooting around for the box.
