Start on Grove St, in Putnam, CT. Head East (unless you are already in East Putnam, then head towards the town center) At the intersection of Grove St, Killingly Ave, and Heritage Rd you will find the Grove Street Cemetery. (247 Grove St. Putnam, CT)

Pull into the main entrance of the cemetery. Head down the main road until you come to the back road of the cemetery. Turn left heading East until you come to the next intersection. Turn right (South), up a big hill until you come to the small island in the middle of the rotary. Look 200 degrees South and you will see a grouping of four large rocks by the back of the cemetery. These rocks are grouped near a chain linked fence. Nestled beneath these rocks you will find the first letterbox.

Quiet Corner Kids: Riding Bikes

Welcome to the first letterbox for
Quiet Corner Kids: Riding Bikes.

We are four children growing up together.

We are best friends and have so much fun playing together.

We started letterboxing two summers ago and had so much
Fun finding letter boxes we thought we’d create our own series on all the fun things we love to do together as children.

As children we love to ride our bikes. In Putnam, one of the safest places to learn to do that is in the Grove Street Cemetery. If you are a child from Putnam, you’ve most likely ridden your bike in a cemetery around town.

They’re fun to walk in, ride your bikes in, play hide and seek in, and walk your dog in. So we’ve chosen to place our first letterbox here, in the Grove Street Cemetery.

Perhaps, you’re reading this because you’ve found it! Congratulations!

Place your stamp in our book and our stamp in yours!

Riding My Bike

My wheels don’t seem to touch the road
As I fly through the wind.
When I look down,
The road flashes by.
When I look up,
The world is slow motion again,
And I swerve a corner,
Almost floating.
