Walk difficulty: easy, a flat dirt road
Distance: very short
Stamp hand-carved
Status: alive and well on August 25, 2016
Take U. S. Highway 26 & 287 between Moran and Dubois. A short distance east of the Continental Divide sign, between mile markers 25 and 26, is a sign and entrance for the Wind River Lake Picnic Area. Turn southeast into the picnic area and park there.
From the parking area walk south on the dirt road to a yellow “Travel Not Recommended …” sign. From this sign go at about 116 degrees (from mag. north) for about 33 to 35 steps to two small boulders. The box is under the backside of the most southerly boulder. It is under a flat rock covered with some plant debris and twigs
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Put all of it INSIDE the box. Please put the lid on tight. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with twigs and other plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
Contact me if the box needs attention:
