Cyclops’ Wisdom

Cyclopes are gigantic one eyed manoid monsters who provide Zeus' thunderbolt, Hades' helmet of invisibility, and Poseidon's trident, and these mythological gods used these weapons to defeat the Titans. This journey will take you to the Cyclops Mountain near Blue Diamond, Nevada where you will find the treasures you seek in the life source and the wisdom of the Cyclops.

Begin your quest at the intersection of Blue Diamond Road (SR 160) and Fort Apache Road at the Southwest part of the Las Vegas valley and travel 5.9 miles West on Blue Diamond Road toward Pahrump, Nevada. You will see a gravel parking area on your right hand side.

Pull off the highway and park in the gravel parking area. Make your way to the Northwest corner of the gravel parking area and follow the trail down into the wash. From the parking lot, you will take approximately 80 paces West and down into the wash before you arrive at an Access Point in the barbwire fence that runs along the edge of the wash.
After you pass through the access point, set your compass at 30 degrees North. You will now hike through and across the wash in the direction of 30 degrees North for approximately 450 yards.

After your short hike down and across the wash, search the area for a pair of yucca plants near a large white and gray boulder at the edge of the wash. Between the yuccas and the large boulder is a bike trial that goes up the hill at the edge of the wash.

Follow the bike trail toward the Northeast up the hill for approximately 60 paces. At the top of the hill you will see two large Joshua trees. As you stand on the bike trail and you look directly North between the Joshua trees up to the top of the small mountain you will see the large eye of the Cyclops. Continue hiking along the bike trail toward the Northeast for approximately 130 yards until you see a large piece of rebar on the left hand side of the bike trail, just off the trail.

From the position of the rebar, look up the hill toward the Cyclops Mountain and you will see two caverns. From the bottom of the hill the lower cavern looks like the Cyclops’ belly button and the upper cavern looks like the Cyclops massive eye. The lower cavern is half way up the hill (approximately 75 steps for a 6 foot tall man). In the belly button lays the first treasure that you seek.

Continue to the upper cavern at the top of the hill. After you enter the eye of the Cyclops you will find your second treasure in a small pocket in the rock at the top right corner of the cave at the highest and deepest point of the cave.

We hope that you find great wisdom and life in the stamps that await you in the eye and the navel of Cyclops Mountain.
